Before grinding, clean and dry the working surface of the grinding plate with kerosene or gasoline, then apply appropriate abrasive on the grinding plate, and then fit the surface of the workpiece to be ground (deburred and cleaned) onto the grinding plate. Grind along the whole surface of the grinding plate in a combination of 8-shaped or spiral rotation and linear motion, and constantly change the movement direction of the workpiece. Because of the periodic movement, the abrasive is constantly working in a new direction, and the workpiece can quickly meet the required accuracy requirements.
When grinding, the pressure and speed of grinding shall be controlled. For smaller workpieces with high hardness or rough grinding, larger pressure and lower speed can be used for grinding. Sometimes, in order to reduce the friction resistance during grinding, some lubricating oil or stearic acid can be added to the grinding agent to lubricate the workpieces with heavy weight or large contact surface.
During the grinding process, the workpiece shall be prevented from heating. If there is slight heating, the grinding shall be stopped immediately to avoid deformation of the workpiece due to heating. At the same time, the measured size of the workpiece during heating is not accurate.
